David White

David M. (Dave) White endured six years of dialysis, a life-saving therapy, before receiving a kidney transplant from a deceased donor in 2015. During his long and arduous battle with kidney disease, he learned the importance of self-management and advocating for better care for himself and for other kidney patients.

Mr. White serves on the Board of Directors of the Kidney Health Initiative and the Patient Advocate Foundation. He chairs the Kidney Health Initiative Patient and Family Partnership Council, and he is an inaugural member of the FDA Patient Engagement Collaborative, an advancement in the FDA’s efforts to strengthen its relationship with patient communities. Mr. White is a Past Chair of the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute’s Advisory Panel on Patient Engagement and Quality Insights Renal Network 5’s Patient Advisory Council. His honors include the American Association of Kidney Patients Patient Engagement Advocacy Award, the American Kidney Fund Hero of Hope, the Celeste Castillo Lee Memorial Lecture, and the IDEAS Patient Engagement Award.

Mr. White is committed to advancing health equity. He believes that the best way to reduce disparities in health outcomes is to empower communities to take collective responsibility for improving their own well-being.
